Sunday night was cold, after a nice dinner at CB we retired to the Serenity and it was 18F and forecast to be 16F by morning. We got up to 10F! The furnace ran all night, at least it did not wake me coming on and off...it was just on. It was a comfortable 65F inside when I got up at 5AM, but I don't think it would be if it got much colder than 10F.
Another reason I am glad I upgraded our battery capacity (by 6X) is that after running the furnace blower literally all night, my batteries are at 90% this morning. I used to worry about the furnace running down the batteries, but I no longer sweat it.
My propane started at 88% last night, after running the furnace and refrigerator all night, I am at 80%. I am amazed at how long our propane lasts even when using the furnace in cold temps.
Monday, we made dinner plans with our friends from Ohio we met on our Germany Trip in 2023. It is only a few hours from Erie, PA to Mansfield, OH where our friends live, so we had time to either see the Rock and Roll Museum in Cleveland, OH or the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. Mostly due to timing we decided to leave the R&R museum for another trip.

| Pro Football Hall of Fame |
We arrived at the Pro Football Hall of Fame around 10AM, it is not that impressive from the outside but is huge inside.
We spent about 3 1/2 hours in the museum, you could spend all day, there is a lot to see.

There is a lot of history about why the HOF is in Canton, Ohio. Football actually started in Pennsylvania, but it went pro in Ohio, partially due to the support of the Timken Ball Bearing company, they did not forget.

Every player gets a bronze bust, this is Lawrence Taylor.
There are 382 busts in the HOF, they are running out of room. I spoke with one of the staff who told me there is a 5 year plan to completely remodel the HOF with modern technology that interacts with visitors, you will be able to talk to players via holograms; I can't wait to come back for that.
After the HOF we made our way to Mansfield to visit our friends. I found a car wash along the way and rinsed some of the slime off the bikes and Serenity. We arrived at Nate and Lisa's around 16:30 and planned to meet Todd and Joan at the Derby Brown Roadhouse around 17:30.

| Fab4 |
June and I refer to our Ohio friends as the Fab4, because we took this picture in 2023 in Hamburg, Germany, where the Beatles started.
Todd and Joan drove about 1 1/2 hours from the Columbus area to see us...or was it because it was Nate's birthday .

It was fun catching up with the Fab4 and we all had a nice dinner. We hope they visit Vermont in the future.
Tuesday is election day in Vermont, June and I voted via absentee ballot before we left Vermont. The hot topic in Vermont is local school funding, it is simply out of control with double digit tax increases every year, I don't know the answer but I think the citizens are about fed up...we will see.
Tuesday we plan to visit the Wright Patterson National Museum of the United States Air Force and then continue to make our way south.

Enjoyed catching up with your trip and heard a lot about the museum at WP airbase. Sounds like you prepared well for the utilities upgrade for cold weather. Hope you don’t run into really bad stuff. All good here in Portgual and helping prune their olive orchard. Look forward to your posts. DB
ReplyDeleteDuane and Sue, glad we can communicate across the ocean! Don’t work too hard, you’re on vacation.
DeleteMy guess is you went to the football Hall of Fame because it might’ve seemed a little more interesting for you, Fred.
ReplyDeleteHow often do you have to fill your propane?
Open invitation to you guys and the Fab Four …. Meet sometime in Southwest Florida, you are all welcome to stay at our house.
Thanks for the update updates. Be safe.
So, the Rock and Roll Museum might have been more interesting for me….but the Football HOF was good too. Dinner with friends was even better.
